FORT WORTH, TX – Police say a wrong-way collision in Fort Worth left one person dead and shut down a portion of Interstate 30 Friday morning.

According to NBC DFW, a sedan and an SUV crashed head-on in the westbound lanes of I-30 near the merger for I-35W at about 2:30 a.m. One of the vehicles was going east in the west lanes, though it was not yet clear which of the drivers was headed in the wrong direction.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while another person was reported to be in critical condition.

The westbound lanes of Interstate 30 were shut down in the vicinity of the crash scene, and traffic was diverted onto the ramp for I-35W SB. Drivers were advised to seek alternate routes. The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Worth Police Department.
