NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – One driver was killed and another injured when their trucks collided in North Richland Hills Wednesday morning, KDFW reports.
Police said a tanker truck and a garbage truck were involved in the crash on Interstate 820 at Meadow Lakes Drive at about 7 a.m.
One of the drivers was pronounced dead at the scene, though it was not yet clear which one was killed. The other driver was in critical condition at an area hospital. The fuel truck caught fire as a result of the wreck, and a third person was hospitalized after sustaining severe burns during the cleanup efforts.
All lanes of I-820 were closed in both directions after the crash, causing traffic delays for several hours. Drivers were advised to use Mid Cities Boulevard as an alternate route.
Police believe speed was a contributing factor in the wreck.
