DALLAS, TX – A crash involving a wrong-way driver on Interstate 45 late Sunday night left four people dead, according to WFAA.

The accident took place on I-45 near Mars Road in Wilmer at about 11:45 p.m. Police said a driver was traveling north in the highway’s southbound lanes and collided head-on with another vehicle.

A woman and two juveniles who were in the vehicle going the wrong way were pronounced dead at the scene, along with the man who was driving the other vehicle. Two juveniles in the man’s vehicle were hospitalized, though their injuries were not considered critical. The ages and genders of the crash victims were not immediately released.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.  The southbound lanes of I-45 were closed while the scene was being cleared and investigated.
