FLOWER MOUND, TX – Police in Flower Mound are investigating a fatal car accident that occurred Tuesday afternoon, according to the Cross Timbers Gazette.

Officers responded after a crash was reported in the area of Long Prairie Road at about 3:15 p.m.  Witnesses told police that a Honda sedan headed on Heather Wood Drive continued straight at a 90 degree turn and went through a wall next to FM 2499.  The sedan went across all six lanes of FM 2499 and then came to a rest in a vacant field.

The driver was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.  He was identified as 24-year-old James Maddox of Flower Mound.  No one else was in the vehicle.

FM 2499 was shut down in both directions for about four hours during the crash investigation.
