ARLINGTON, TX – A crash in Arlington last week left a Dallas police officer hospitalized, according to NBC DFW.

Arlington police said Officer Michael Patino was driving a Dodge Ram pickup on Russell Curry Road Thursday at about 1 a.m. when he drove off the roadway and struck a tree. Patino, 48, suffered serious injuries and was flown to an area hospital.

Police said their investigation indicated that alcohol was a contributing factor, and said that Patino will be charged with driving while intoxicated following his release from the hospital.

Patino, a sergeant assigned to the Love Field Unit’s Special Operations Division, has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal police investigation.
