IRVING, TX – A driver was taken into custody following a fatal accident in Irving on Wednesday morning, according to CBS DFW.

The crash happened on Texas State Highway 183 near Carl Road, where a vehicle had become disabled.  The driver of that car got out of the vehicle and was standing outside when they were struck by another vehicle and killed.

The driver of the second vehicle was suspected of driving drunk, and police said an intoxication manslaughter investigation was underway.

The eastbound lanes of Texas 183 were shut down at O’Connor Road for the crash investigation and drivers were advised to seek alternate routes.
