DALLAS, TX – Police in Dallas are searching for a driver who left the scene of a fatal crash on New Year’s Eve, the Dallas Morning News reports.
According to investigators, a man was in the road on Commerce Street in Deep Ellum watching fireworks at about midnight when he was struck by a pickup truck.
The victim, identified as 57-year-old Dil Chainy, was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital. The driver fled the scene after the crash and was last seen headed north on North Good Latimer Expressway. Police said the driver was going the wrong way with no headlights on at the time.
A search is now underway for the driver and the vehicle, which was described as a gray 2017 Ford F150 with Texas license plates.
