DALLAS, TX – The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office said a pedestrian died in an accident on Interstate 30 east on Thursday morning.
According to NBC DFW, deputies responded to the scene on I-30 at Jim Miller Road after the incident was reported at about 3 a.m.
Investigators believe the pedestrian had crossed the westbound lanes of I-30 and was trying to cross the eastbound lanes when he was struck by a vehicle. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicle believed to have hit him, a Dodge Charger, was found a quarter mile from the crash scene. Police said another vehicle struck the Dodge Charger’s tire, and the driver stopped to assess the damage. Both drivers were reported to have been cooperating with investigators and it was not expected that any charges would be filed. Police are still trying to ascertain whether the pedestrian was hit by another vehicle before the Dodge Charger.
The eastbound lanes of I-30 were closed to traffic while deputies and rescue crews worked the scene before reopening several hours later.
An investigation is continuing into the incident.
