JOHNSON COUNTY, TX – A driver convicted for his role in a deadly hit-and-run incident in Johnson County has been sentenced to life in prison, reports KDFW.
Authorities said 61-year-old Joseph Haley was driving a stolen truck when he crashed into a pickup truck on FM 1434 in Cleburne in 2018. A man in the pickup, 26-year-old Danny Clements, was killed in the wreck.
Haley was found the following morning walking on the highway near the scene of the accident, police said.
A jury found him guilty in the case and handed down the life sentence. Haley will not be eligible for parole for 30 years. He was reported to have been a convicted sex offender with a lengthy history of criminal offenses.
