DALLAS, TX – A man trying to cross a Dallas highway was struck and killed by an SUV Saturday night, according to KDFW.

The accident occurred on Interstate 30 between St. Francis Avenue and Jim Miller Road, and was reported at about 9 p.m.

According to the Dallas Sheriff’s office, a pedestrian was trying to walk across I-30 from west to east when he was struck by a Jeep Liberty. First responders pronounced the man dead at the scene. Investigators believe the victim had been using a cane. The driver of a Nissan pickup swerved to avoid the pedestrian in the roadway and hit the Jeep, but neither driver was injured.

The Jeep driver stayed at the scene after the accident and was not expected to face charges.
