PARKER COUNTY, TX – Authorities said a fleeing motorcycle rider died in a crash in Parker County early Tuesday morning.

CBS DFW reports a sheriff’s deputy was conducting speed enforcement and spotted the motorcyclist driving a Suzuki motorcycle at high speed on FM 920 at about 1 a.m.

The deputy set out in pursuit, and the motorcyclist turned around in the 6300 block of FM 920.  At one point the rider was estimated to be driving at between 130 to 140 miles an hour while trying to evade the deputy.

The motorcycle eventually crashed into a telephone pole after turning onto Johnson Bend Road. The rider was thrown from the bike, and was pronounced dead at the scene.  The suspect’s identity has not yet been released.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the incident.
