DENTON, TX – Police said a pedestrian was killed in a crash on a highway in Denton early Saturday morning, the Dallas Morning News reports.

Officers responded to the scene in the 2400 block of Interstate 35E south near the Buc-ee’s Boulevard exit at about 4:20 a.m. following calls of a person dead in the roadway.

According to investigators, a driver pulled over onto the shoulder of the roadway, exited their vehicle and walked into the right lane of traffic. The pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and then run over by another vehicle, suffering fatal injuries.

Both drivers involved were said to be cooperating with investigators.
