HURST, TX – A pickup truck driven by a suspected drunk driver crashed into a motorcycle in Hurst Monday afternoon, killing one of the riders.
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the motorcycle had stopped due to traffic in the 700 block of northbound Loop 820 at about 12:40 p.m. A Chevy pickup truck struck the back of the bike, and one of the two riders on the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. The other motorcyclist was hospitalized with injuries that were considered serious but not life-threatening.
The driver of the pickup truck, identified as 72-year-old Richard Lee Wittie of Abilene, Texas, was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.
