DESOTO, TX – A 17-year-old suspect was arrested following a June 6th crash that took the life of a Dallas ISD mentor, CBS DFW reports.

The incident took place within the intersection of Ray Andra Drive and West Pleasant Run Road.

Investigators believe the 17-year-old motorist was traveling 50 mph over the speed limit when his vehicle struck the 42-year-old victim.

The victim sustained fatal injuries in the crash. The suspect remained at the scene and was taken into custody. He has since been charged with second-degree felony manslaughter.
