GARLAND, TX – A driver was killed in a collision with a truck in Garland early Saturday morning, police said.

According to the Irving Weekly, the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 30 in the vicinity of Zion Road at about 3 a.m.

Investigators said a vehicle crashed into the back of an 18-wheeler, and the driver of the first vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured.

Lanes of I-30 were shut down for about five hours before reopening later in the morning.

The Garland Police Department is investigating the fatal accident.
