SEAGOVILLE, TX – Police said a driver going the wrong way caused a deadly collision in Seagoville early Sunday morning, according to NBC DFW.

The incident began in Crandall, where officers were notified about a wrong-way driver on Highway 175 east shortly after 1 a.m. Police shined spotlights into the window to try to get the attention of a man driving a blue Chevrolet, but said he sped up instead of slowing down.

As he approached the intersection with FM 1389 in Seagoville, the driver crashed into a Toyota sedan. The collision killed all three people in the Toyota, two adults and one child.

Police said the wrong-way driver was hospitalized and his blood alcohol level was being tested. Intoxication was believed to have been a contributing factor in the wreck, according to investigators.
