ARLINGTON, TX – Police said a child has passed away following a crash in Arlington last week involving an alleged intoxicated driver.

This is an update to a previous story.

According to CBS DFW, the victim was a 2-year-old girl who died Thursday of injuries suffered in the Dec. 21 collision that occurred on Interstate 20 near the Highway 360 interchange at about 8:20 p.m.

Police said 25-year-old Tyler Hampton was driving a Mazda MX5 erratically in the westbound lanes when he collided with a Toyota Tundra pickup truck.  The Tundra went off the road and hit a guardrail before ending up on its side.

A 26-year-old man, 22-year-old woman who were in the Tundra were seriously injured along with the 2-year-old who died.  A 4-year-old girl in the vehicle sustained minor injuries. Hampton was not seriously hurt.

Hampton was initially charged with three counts of intoxication assault. Police say he will now also face a count of intoxication manslaughter after the death of the child.
