BEDFORD, TX – A woman was pulled to safety by an off-duty Richland Hills police officer following a single-vehicle crash on Sunday.

According to NBC DFW, the crash occurred when the woman suffered a medical emergency and crashed into a tree on Central Drive.

The officer jumped into action, breaking the vehicle’s window and cutting the seatbelt in order to free the woman. Bystanders were able to assist by pulling nearby vegetation away from the vehicle so the door could be opened.

Moments later, the vehicle became completely engulfed in flames.
