DALLAS, TX – Police and paramedics responded to a deadly pedestrian accident in Dallas on Wednesday night, reports CBS DFW.

The incident on southbound I-35E near Royal Lane was reported to 911 shortly before 10 p.m., as callers said a person had been struck by a car.

Investigators determined that a woman was attempting to walk across the freeway and was in the left lane when she was hit by a Chevrolet Impala.

The victim, whose name was not released, was found dead at the scene on the freeway.  Police said the driver involved remained at the scene and spoke with officers.

I-35E south was shut down for hours through the area for the crash investigation.
