ARLINGTON, TX – Police in Arlington have released details of a fatal pedestrian accident that took place late Saturday night.
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, a woman identified as 42-year-old Aisha Z. Wells was trying to walk across the 2200 block of New York Avenue shortly before midnight when she was hit by a southbound Ford Expedition.
Wells was taken to an Arlington hospital, where she died of her injuries on Sunday morning. Police said the driver of the Expedition stayed at the scene, cooperated with investigators, and was not expected to face any criminal charges.
Wells was not using a designated crosswalk at the time she was struck, police said. They stressed the need for pedestrians to use traffic lights and designated crosswalks when walking across roadways, and avoid cutting across roadways particularly at night.
